Shibuya Street Studio Vol.1
Hit the streets of Harajuku/Omotesando and Shibuya to work on an ongoing Street Studio project together with fellow photographer Paul. Wanted to see what could be done with Hasselblads flagship digital medium size camera H5D (with a 80mm f/2.8 lens) and a small portable light/softbox. Being a rather large size and heavy camera and first time really shooting "street" all handheld, this proved to be a good challenge. I believe Hasselblads superior image quality didn't get enough chance to really come to it's proper element so I can see this also being done with a DSLR as well, or why not a H-Series 6x6 medium size film camera. As always, just trying to keep things simple, clean and straight forward. Ofcourse this isn't a set up one can haul around and shoot with alone. One shooter, one light holder and a backdrop holder was needed, not always ideal in my world but I think we got some good frames. To take this further and shoot in different areas of the megapolis can give some interesting results as well. Shibuya area being mostly young and self centered hipsters, whereas Ginza, Shinjuku, Akihabara, Asakusa etc would give you business people, young and old, hard, soft and all in between. Stay tuned, more to come.
